Wax Sealing with a Glue Gun

Here is how you can create wax seal impressions with using simple and easy to use tools. The glue gun method is one of the fastest, easiest and modernized method to get the job done. Glue gun sticks are usually available in two sizes, the standard glue gun and the mini glue gun. Be sure that the glue gun you use is a low temperature gun. There is still some technique required, however with practice the turnout gets better.

What you will need:

  • Low Temperature Glue Gun

  • Wax Sealing Stick for a glue gun

  • Wax Sealing Stamp

Instructions: 

Step 01

Place sealing wax sticks in a low temperature glue gun or melting furnace and let wax melt (about 3 minutes). Keep in mind to place your heating device on a heat safe surface.

Step 02

When wax is warm, squeeze a 1" circle onto your item that you would like to seal.

Step 03

Press wax stamp into the center of poured wax and let wax cool for 20 seconds before gently removing the wax stamp from the poured wax.

Caution: Do not touch the melted wax while hot. It can burn you.

Wax Sealing with Traditional Wax

Traditional Wax is considered to be the candle stick wax used in the early 1800's. The majority of these wax sticks has wick in the middle of the stick while some sticks do not. These sticks will give you the same finished product once used right.

Traditional Wax with wick

What you will need:

  • Traditional Wax Sealing Stick with wick

  • Wax Sealing Stamp

Instructions: 

Step 01

Light your stick and hover your wax stick over the item you would like to seal (your melted wax should slowly drip on the surface).

Step 02

Drip a 1" circle onto your item.

Step 03

Press wax stamp into the center of the melted wax and let wax cool for 20 seconds before gently removing the wax stamp from the wax.

Traditional Wax without wick

What you will need:

  • Traditional Wax Stick

  • Melting Spoon

  • Furnace

  • Tea Candle

  • Wax Sealing Stamp

Instructions: 

Step 01

Light the tea candle and place the furnace over the tea candle. Keep in mind to place your heating device on a heat safe surface. Place the melting spoon on top of the furnace.

Step 02

While holding the stick, place the stick into the melting spoon. The melting spoon should melt the wax slowly and fill the spoon. When wax is melted, pour a 1" circle onto your item that you would like to seal.

Step 03

Press wax stamp into the center of the melted wax and let wax cool for 20 seconds before gently removing the wax stamp from the wax.

Caution: Do not touch the melted wax while hot. It can burn you.

Pro tip: Traditional sticks without wick and glue gun sticks can be cut up into  pieces to fit your spoon for melting. This is great for being for hands free.

Wax Sealing with Wax Beads

Wax Beads are a fast and easy way to complete your wax sealing needs. These were created for the crafter to be completed hands free while working with their projects.

What you will need:

  • Wax Beads

  • Furnace

  • Melting Spoon

  • Tea Candle

  • Wax Sealing Stamp

Instructions: 

Step 01

Light the tea candle and place the furnace over the tea candle. Keep in mind to place your heating device on a heat safe surface. Place the melting spoon on top of the furnace.

 

Step 02

Place your beads into the melting spoon, when wax is warm, pour a 1" circle onto your item that you would like to seal.

Step 03

Press wax stamp into the center of poured wax and let wax cool for 20 seconds before gently removing the wax stamp from the poured wax.

Caution: Do not touch the melted wax while hot. It can burn you.
